Abstract
Nowadays, the term "spoiler" often carries negative connotations, with many believing that spoilers disrupting the watching experience. However, spoilers are often posted online revealing details of dramas and films. Existing literature also does not have a consistent view on the effect of spoilers. While some studies suggest that spoilers enhance processing fluency of the viewers, others argue that spoilers disrupt the watching experience. This study considers how viewers view spoilers related to movie and drama with theme related to costume intrigue plots. Partial least squares analysis on 314 valid questionnaires (150 of drama context and 164 of movie context) revealed that regardless of whether the spoilers are related to a film or drama, interest in them positively influences the anticipated enjoyment of watching the complete plot even after viewing the spoilers.
