Abstract |
This research study focuses on the importance of family business succession. Through the perspectives of the successors of family businesses in Indonesia, this research aims to analyze the relationships between succession planning, preparation of heirs, and relationship among family members towards post succession performance. Additionally, the mediating role of succession process within these relationships were also analyzed. The data were collected from 181 Indonesians who owns and have experienced succession within their family businesses through self-administered questionnaire by purposive sampling method. The results of the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling where the data provided insights of: (1) while both preparation of heirs and relationship among family members have significant impact towards post succession performance, succession planning doesn’t have significant impact towards post succession performance, (2) however succession planning indirectly affect post succession performance through succession planning mediation thus succession process fully mediates relationship between succession planning and post succession performance, (3) succession process partially mediates relationship between preparation of heirs and post succession performance as well as relationship between relationship among family members and post succession performance. |
