在許多的職業運動賽場中，職業球員的選手生涯通常是短暫的，因此職業球員將會盡全力最大化自身的效用。為了保障球員的福利，許多的職業運動聯盟都各自有一套自由球員系統，讓球員可以透過成為自由球員提升自己的效用。本文欲從球員及球團(包含原球團及競爭球團)的觀點來研究分析自由球員市場的運作情形，將根據球員與球團的特性，建立各自的效用函數並探討在哪些情況下將有助於促進自由球員市場的發展。本文發現在自由球員市場中，當聯盟所規定的「FA補償金」過高時，競爭球團將不會有興趣爭取自由球員。而原球團也只有當球員具有高人氣時才會進行積極的爭取。因此可得知對球員而言，申請成為自由球員不一定是絕對有利的，若誤判了自由球員市場的狀況，球員可能會因成為自由球員而導致效用降低。

In many tournaments, professional sports players' careers are usually transient, so players will do their best to maximize their own utility. In order to protect the welfare of players, most of professional sports leagues have their own Free Agency systems, which allow players to improve their own utility by becoming a free agent. This paper intends to analyze the Free Agency market from the perspectives of players and clubs (including original club and competing club). According to the characteristics of players and clubs, we will create their utility functions and analyze which situations will help promote the development of the Free Agency market. This paper finds that in the Free Agency market, when the free agent compensation of the professional sports league is too high, competing club will not be interested in pursuing the free agent. The original club will only pursue the free agent when this player has high popularity. Therefore, we can conclude that it is not necessarily beneficial for players who decide to become a free agent. If a player misjudges the state of the Free Agency market, becoming a free agent may reduce the player’s utility.
