近年三十年來，醫療進步與人民生活品質提升，平均壽命提高，造成人口老化衝擊，為了因應勞動力短缺的問題，政府希望民眾延遲退休，以減緩社會福利支出的壓力，同時隨著家庭核心化，過度地保護與溺愛也造成子女而難以獨立與社會接軌。啃老族人數日趨上升，將持續作為父母負擔，甚至整個社會的負擔，故本文探討，屆齡退休的父母是否會為了撫養啃老子女而選擇延後退休？啃老族的性別會影響父母的退休決策？本文使用「台灣社會變遷基本調查」之資料並利用Logit迴歸分析法進行實證估計。估計結果發現，家中有未成年子女的父母相較於無未成年子女的父母延後退休的機率高出14.5%；而關於啃老族樣本中，家中有女性啃老族較家中沒有女性啃老族之父母延後退休的機率高了3.6%。此外，女性與年齡對於退休決策有正向顯著影響，而受教育程度和個人認定之主觀經濟狀況對退休決策則無顯著影響。

In this paper, we provide empirical evidence on the role of offspring that influences the retirement decision of parents in Taiwan. Employing the data from the Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSCS) between 1999 and 2016 to conduct estimations, we find that the parents are 14.5% more likely to delay retirement age if they have kids under 18. Moreover, the difference in the gender of NEET also affects parental retirement decision-making. Having a NEET daughter increases the probability of delaying retirement by 3.6%. In addition, the gender and age of individuals have a positive and significant impact on making decisions of retirement, while education and economic self-identification have no significant impact on retirement decision-making.
