在2019年反對《逃犯條例修訂草案》運動（反送中運動）及後續的政治事件發生後，香港經歷了一波大規模的移民潮。隨著香港人移民至世界各地，離散團體與相關活動也逐漸增加。由於關於香港離散團體的研究相對有限，本論文探討了離散港人組織在維持在台香港移民政治認同的角色。透過兩種質性研究方法，包括深度訪談和參與觀察法，呈現離散活動參與者和非參與者的經驗。本研究發現離散團體的功能包括：建立社群、提供情感與資訊支援，以及議題倡議。研究強調香港身份中的政治層面，包括對法治、政治制度的尊重、中國影響與反威權主義，以及對民主價值的堅持。研究結果顯示，離散活動是維持在台香港人政治身份的一股推動力。
此外，研究也發現，香港離散群體的概念與2019年的反送中運動有著密切關係。反送中運動作為一個關鍵事件，讓在運動前後移民的人，產生了一種離散認同。此外，生活經驗、與香港人之間的情感與社會聯繫，以及與故鄉的關係，也對離散身份的認同產生了重要影響。
雖然研究主要聚焦於台灣，但同時為未來同類研究提供了比較視角，從而檢視香港移民在不同國家和時間的經驗。 

After the 2019 Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill (Anti-ELAB) Movement and the subsequent political upheavals, Hong Kong experiences a massive wave of migration. Alongside this migration, the number of diaspora groups and related activities increased around the globe. With a limited number of studies about Hong Kong diaspora groups, this thesis examines the role of diaspora groups in sustaining the political identity of Hong Kong migrants in Taiwan. By employing a qualitative research approach, the study used in-depth interviews and participant observations to capture the experiences of both participants and non-participants in diasporic activities. The study identifies the functions of diaspora groups, which include community building, providing emotional and information support, and as a way of advocacy. Additionally, the research highlights the civic dimensions of Hong Kong identity. It includes the components of respect for legal-political institutions, China influence and anti-authoritarianism, and democratic values. The research finding reveals that diasporic activities acts as a driving force in sustaining the political identity of Hongkongers in Taiwan.
The research further found that the concept of the Hong Kong diaspora relates to the 2019 Anti-ELAB Movement. The movement served as a pivotal event, fostering a collective diasporic identity among individuals who migrated before and after the movement. Furthermore, living experiences, emotional and social ties with people in Hong Kong, and relationships with the homeland also shape their perceptions of diasporic identity.
While primarily focused on Taiwan, this research offers a comparative perspective for future studies to examine the experiences of Hong Kong migrants across nations and time.
