Abstract |
Abstract Career transitions are common and recurring experiences for many professionals. Faced with such turning points, individuals may exhibit diverse decision-making strategies and coping behaviors. This study adopts a self-narrative approach to examine how career transition opportunities emerge, how individuals respond to the challenges they encounter, and how these actions shape their overall career trajectories. Drawing on the author’s personal experiences in the fitness industry, this research collected data through reflexive writing, semi-structured interviews, and workplace communication records, and applied thematic narrative analysis for interpretation. The study focuses on three aspects: how opportunities are perceived and acted upon, what types of challenges arise during transitions, and how individuals navigate these challenges through action and reflection. The findings suggest that career transitions involve more than changes in roles or skill sets—they also include deeper processes of value negotiation and identity reconstruction. Particularly in unplanned transitions, adaptability emerged as a key factor that enabled continued growth and learning. By revisiting personal experiences in dialogue with established career development theories, this study seeks to offer thoughtful insights for those currently exploring or reassessing their professional paths. |
