棒球被視為是台灣的國球，從最初1906年被引進台灣到現今，成為台灣最受歡迎也最廣為人知的運動。而在台灣的歷史沿革中，從嘉義農林棒球隊、紅葉少棒隊、金龍少棒隊，再到歷屆的台灣成棒代表隊等，棒球也帶給了台灣許多的成就與榮耀。棒球發展至今，台灣也有了成熟的職業聯盟，從事的人口基數也十分眾多，成為對台灣影響最多也重要的運動。在台灣歷史的發展過程中，民族主義扮演了重要角色，從追求自我的身分認同，區分我者與他者等，以及所謂「台灣人」的價值展現，也都是在各個不同歷史時段中，台灣人所不斷追求的。在這樣的過程中，棒球與民族主義也產生了影響。
在本文的探討中，證實了台灣棒球與民族主義間確實有密切的關聯及互動，而在棒球運動發展的過程中，包含時任政府、媒體等，都會讓棒球運動逐漸政治化，成為宣傳民族主義的工具。除此之外，即使賽事結果及隊伍相同，但是族群的審視角度不同，也往往會做出不同的詮釋及展示，帶給各族群不同的象徵意義。本文從歷史底蘊、普及程度，以及在賽事中獲取的成就及榮耀等層面之理論及民調基礎上檢視台灣棒球與民族主義之關聯性。

Baseball is considered to be the national ball of Taiwan since 1906. In the history of Taiwan, baseball has brought a lot of achievements and glory to Taiwan, from Chiayi Nonglin Baseball Team, Red Leaf Little League Team, Golden Dragon Little League Team, to the successive Taiwan Baseball Teams. Baseball has developed into a mature professional league and has a large population base, making it the most influential and important sport in Taiwan.
In the development of Taiwan's history, nationalism has played an important role, from the pursuit of self-identity, the distinction between the Self and the Other, and the expression of the value of the so-called "Taiwanese", all of which have been pursued by Taiwanese in different periods of history. In this process, baseball and nationalism have also had an impact.
In this thesis, it is confirmed that there is interaction between baseball and nationalism in Taiwan, and in the process of baseball's development, the government and media have gradually politicized sport of baseball and made it to be a tool to promote nationalism. Besides, even if the results and teams of the games are the same, different interpretations and presentations are often made by different ethnic groups, bringing different symbolic meanings to each ethnic group. This thesis examines the connection between baseball and nationalism in Taiwan based on theories and polls in terms of historical background, popularity, and the achieve-
ments in the games.
