  • Abstract Taiwan steel industry was constructed during the periods of Ten Major Construction Projects of the Republic of China and has gradually flourished to modern-day. The steel industry is a fundamental industry that symbolizes Taiwanese overall national strength and overall economic level. This case, China Steel Corporation, is currently the leading manufacturer of the Taiwan steel industry. By studying its development strategies, we can have a deep understanding of the history of the changes in Taiwan steel industry.
When it comes to The New Southbound Policy, according to the 2020 statistics, Taiwan ranks fourth among all foreign-funded companies in Vietnam, so it can be found that Taiwanese companies have a deep and extensive layout in Vietnam. At the same time, Vietnam has also signed free trade agreements (FTA) with many countries, which has greatly increased the fierce competition in Vietnam. Therefore, the research on the layout of CSC can make us follow the path of the future steel industry.
This research uses: 1. Study the Southbound layout of CSC. 2. Global, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese steel industry trends. 3. Comprehensive literature research. The three main directions to draw the following conclusions and provide future suggestions: 1. The future competition direction of CSC in the steel industry should be R&D towards high value-added, refined and special steel application fields (for example: Green Energy technology, Circular Economy Usage, etc.) 2. The layout of CSC in Vietnam can be oriented towards the establishment of an industrial ecosystem led by CSC. This is not only for strategic alliances between local Taiwanese businessmen, upstream and downstream companies, but also for cross-industry cooperation to jointly expand the demand market to enhance the bargaining power. 3. Give directions and suggestions about supporting the corporations in southbound industry to the government . It is expected that future researchers can be stimulated and generate different opinions from this research and help the related research of the steel industry be more complete and thorough.
