Abstract
With the precautions put upon international travel and immigration due to the Covid-19 pandemic this paper investigates many of the aspects of individual quarantining. In particular the negative aspects that arose from the minimum two week isolation that travelers undertook while entering Taiwan. Eleven interviews were undertaken between November and December of 2021 in the evaluation of this topic with the interviewees completing their quarantine between March 2019 and October 2021. Individual results varied by interview subject but themes of being able to quarantine at home, having ample sunlight, and keeping themselves busy seemed to help the most with the adjustment to isolation of the individuals. It is argued that to minimize the psychological, physical, and economic damage of future quarantine isolations they should be conducted at home and be as short as possible. Limiting the length of restrictions on the individual’s lifestyle to as little time as possible as well as the changes to the normal day to day activities will minimize each of the negative aspects as much as possible.
