Abstract
With the changes in environment and business models, previous studies have indicated a positive correlation between the Big Five personality traits and employability. However, most studies have not thoroughly explored the antecedents of employability. In this study, proactive personality traits and perseverance personality traits were chosen because, unlike the Big Five personality traits, these
two traits can adapt to external environmental uncertainties. Furthermore, this study sought to examine the individual's employability by investigating the mediating effect
of career adaptability, which is a career aspect related to employability. It explored whether individuals with proactive and perseverance personality traits would be influenced by career adaptability, thereby affecting their employability. Therefore,
this study integrated the perspective of career construction theory and constructed a theoretical model to investigate whether proactive and perseverance personality traits can affect individual employability through the mediating effect of career
adaptability. The study focused on individuals aged 22 and above in Taiwan, and a total of 353 questionnaires were collected, with 269 valid responses. The results of the study showed that individuals with proactive and perseverance personality traits would influence their employability through the mediating effect of career adaptability. Finally, the practical implications of the research findings were
discussed, and suggestions for future research directions were proposed.
