Abstract
One of the least studied and underappreciated alliances of the twenty-first century is that between India and Taiwan. India has yet to completely grasp the potential of its relations with Taiwan, while other democracies such as the United States and Japan have already boosted their cooperation with Taiwan in recent years. In order to help investors and stakeholders on
both sides better understand the chances for mutual understanding in India's smart city initiatives and impending new developments, this research attempts to understand this issue.

The extent of India-Taiwan commercial potential for smart cities in India and the social-economic benefits these projects can provide to Indian citizens are the main topics of research in this thesis. Data from a variety of sources including the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Census of India data (provided by the Government of India), participation in various seminars and my internship experience at the Institute for Information Industry (III) in Taipei- Taiwan is used in the analysis of how the smart city project is currently progressing in India.

The main goal of the smart city project is to build communities that provide people with a better and more modern standard of living, sustainable and vital infrastructure by implementing "smart solutions." Till now, good outcomes have been attained and positive
outcomes have been observed as these smart cities are getting completed. With an average completion rate of 60% as of April 2023, construction is already under progress in 100 cities.
