Abstract
With Bank3.0 redefining financial services and payments, Bank4.0 emphasizes that bank is either embedded in our world via technology or no longer exists. Such development not only makes the role of banks significantly different from the past but also highlights that the financial sector is bound to integrate with technology closely. Open Banking is an innovation with financial implications for individuals, which provides third-party access to financial data through Open application programming interfaces (Open APIs) and creates customized financial services. As the financial literacy Open Banking may bring, it's a service that has received considerable attention.
Although Taiwan has started to promote Open Banking since 2019, its lack of popularity so far shows that many people are still taking a wait-and-see attitude towards it. It is essential to discuss the key factors fostering public acceptance of Open Banking to improve the current situation.
By integrating the task technology fit(TTF) model and the initial trust model(ITM), this research proposes an Open Banking usage intention model. The hypotheses of the conceptual model were subsequently assessed with structural equation modeling using a dataset of 315 Taiwanese survey respondents, and the results verified the positive impact of task technology fit and initial trust on the usage intention. This study offers valuable insights to decision-makers involved in the deployment of Open Banking services. For researchers, the paper highlights the usefulness of integrating TTF and ITM in the development of a decision support framework to study the adoption of new technologies.
