Abstract |
The study investigates the dynamics among fear of negative evaluation (FNE), socially desirable responding (SDR), self-confidence, and perceived stress in a sample of 299 respondents. It focuses on the mediating role of self-confidence and the moderating effect of perceived stress. The findings demonstrate that self-confidence mediates the influence of FNE on SDR, illustrating that enhanced self-confidence can significantly reduce the effects of FNE on SDR. However, the study also finds that high levels of perceived stress can compromise the efficacy of self-confidence in managing social impressions. These results contribute to psychological and organizational disciplines by highlighting the importance of managing self-confidence and stress to foster more authentic and effective social interactions. This research underscores the necessity for interventions that enhance self-confidence and stress management, especially in environments where there is a high demand for positive self-presentation. The implications are critical in understanding how individual behaviors and interactions are shaped within social and organizational settings. |
