This paper discusses the business strategies faced by the corrugator industry in small and medium-sized regions under the circumstances of global environmental changes and unstable business climate. According to the Statistics Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the sales volume of corrugated boxboard has seen a steady increase between 2017 and 2020. However, since the end of 2020, the world has been confronted with various events such as the COVID-19 epidemic, lack of shipping containers, port congestion, and supply chain disruptions. These events have had a major impact on the corrugated cardboard and carton industry. The sales of corrugated cardboard and cartons will increase significantly in 2021, but at the same time there will be problems such as supply shortages and rising raw material costs.
The research purpose of this thesis includes finding out the methods for realizing sustainable operation of small and medium-sized paper mills in the context of environmental changes and competition from large factories, and putting forward corresponding strategy suggestions. In order to achieve this purpose, the study adopts Porter's five forces analysis, SWOT analysis, value chain thinking and competition and cooperation strategy concepts to formulate strategy recommendations suitable for the case company.
However, the scope of this study is limited to the corrugated paper industry in southern Taiwan. Due to the differences in regions and industrial characteristics, the research results and recommendations may only be applicable to small and medium-sized paper manufacturers for reference, and cannot be widely applied to other regions and scales. bigger business.
In general, this paper provides a research on the business strategies of small and medium-sized manufacturers in the corrugator industry to cope with environmental changes and competition, and provides corresponding strategy recommendations. However, readers should be aware of the limitations of the scope of the study and consider the feasibility of implementing relevant strategies in specific contexts.
