Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between employee loyalty, perceived stress levels, and interpersonal relationships within the workplace. Our hypothesis posits that positive loyalty behaviors may inadvertently lead to negative behaviors, particularly af-fecting coworkers in the same work group. We examine two dimensions of employee loyalty: loyalty to work group and loyalty to supervisor. Our results demonstrate a posi-tive correlation between loyalty to the supervisor and perceived stress levels among em-ployees, contrasting with the negative correlation observed between loyalty to the work group and perceived stress. Additionally, we uncover a positive relation between inter-personal influence and loyalty to the work group. These findings emphasize that employee loyalty encompasses negative behaviors, affecting coworkers and contributing to height-ened stress levels, when loyalty is directed toward the supervisor. It raises awareness that we need to be cautious while using loyalty as a strategy in business. The contradictory results of the relationship between loyalty to the work group and perceived stress will be discussed in the later part of this study.
